Arbroath United v Penicuik at Kirkhill on Sat. 17th July.
  United were sent into bat on the damp pitch and struggled against the bowling of Craig MacKellar (3 for 14) who claimed three wickets to leave United on 28 for 3 in the 12th over.  Craig Williams and Calvin Burnett (37 from 61 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) grafted to 70 runs in the next 18 overs before the latter was caught by Greg Ruthven from the bowling of Jamie Mitchell.   Williams completed his half century from 115 balls however a further two wickets fell cheaply to leave then on 125 for 6 in the 41st overs.   Williams (unbeaten 74 from 141 balls, 4 fours) then had partnerships of 30 with Max Parker (14 from 15 balls) and unbeaten 19 with Euan Small (14 from 12 balls) as United closed on 177 for 8 with Chris Ashforth (2 for 28) taken two wickets.   When Penicuik batted Ben McGill claimed three wickets in his opening five overs to leave the home side on 24 for 3.   Richard Partington and McKellar took the total to 58 in the 17th over when McGill (4 for 36) trapped Ashforth lbw and they had further success in the following over when Calvin Burnett bowled Keith Morton.   Partington was joined by Ricky Davidson (18 from 37 balls) and they added 44 before Davidson was caught by Matthew Gove from Craig Ramsay’s bowling.   The target was now 73 from 114 balls. Partington completed his half century from 101 balls and with Ian Kirkhope (20 from 49 balls saw the target become 29 from 36 balls.   United made the breakthrough when Calvin Burnett and Chris Shepherd combined to run out Kirkhope.   Two overs later Ross Liddle was bowled by Calvin Burnett (2 for 22) and when the prized wicket of Partington (78 from 145 balls, 8 fours) was captured by Euan Small, caught by Gove the target had become 18 from 16 balls.   United claimed victory in the following over when a direct throw from Greig Peal saw Mitchell run out when attempting a second run, Penicuik being dismissed for 165 with 10 balls remaining, United winning by 12 runs and retaining second place.

  Arbroath United v Mannofield at Lochlands on Sat. 17th July.
  United had early success against the league leaders when Burnett was caught by Gavin Swan from Ryan Plomer’s bowling in the 6th over with the total on 9.  Shay (18) and Dickinson had taken the total to 35 in the 15th over when Craig Ross had the former caught by Gavin Swan.   Ross (3 for 14) quickly claimed a further two wickets to leave the visitors on 44 for 4.   United remained in control as Matthew Swan (2 for 9) and Matthew Hurst (2 for 13) both claimed two wickets as Mannofield were dismissed for 80 in the 41st over.  In response United lost two early however Mark Edwards (unbeaten 30, 4 fours) and John Salmond (unbeaten 30, 5 fours) had an unbroken partnership of 76 to take United to an eight wicket victory in the 17th over.

  Arbroath United X1 v Montrose at Union Park on Sat. 17th July.
 United struggled against he combined bowling attack of de Sousa, Douglas Gourlay and Andy Thorogood as they reached 15 from 10 overs and 47 from 20 overs.    The total reached 72 in the 25th over when Ross Arbuthnott (26) was dismissed by Smith and David Bridges (37) was dismissed shortly afterwards.    The youngsters, with both Jack Waller and Struan Smith reaching double figures, saw United reach 122 for 5,     Simon Devnani (unbeaten 43, 3 fours) and Ken Christie (50) took the game away from United with an opening partnership of 100 which was ended in the 29th over when Christie wa dismissed by Waller.  Waller (3 for 27) claimed a further two wickets before Montrose ran out 7 wicket victors with 6.3 overs remaining.
